Eliosi's Hunt Demo

Gamers like to be rewarded for their efforts in video games, which is why so many people are still playing World of Warcraft or similar titles. The fact that you can still get new gear, abilities or perks makes the experience that much more attractive. However, this doesn’t only work with MMOs, because almost any game can be designed to encourage replayability somehow.

Eliosi's Hunt is a top-down arcade shooter with platformer gameplay mechanics, in which you play the role of an alien bounty hunter trying to make a name for himself. The game’s main ingredient is the fast-paced rhythm, because it takes a while to get used to the fact that everything moves extremely quickly. However, your character’s reactions are just as quick, so it all evens out in the end.

As far as the story is concerned, it was clearly not a vital part of the development process, which is understandable when you consider the scope of the game. As such, you play the role of an alien called Eliosi, who’s a zelicyan trying to become a bounty hunter. However, he must undertake a few trials in order to be eligible for the job, trials that are much tougher than Eliosi had previously thought.

Most of your time is spent trying to avoid traps and obstacles, such as falling tentacles, deep pits and various other unpleasantries. On the other hand, you can also use weapons to defend yourself from mobile enemies, although it must be mentioned that the shooting mechanics are a bit disorienting and frankly annoying. It would be nicer to have the crosshair on screen at all times or not at all, because at the moment it’s too annoying to have it appear after you start shooting.

Other than that, it’s also important that you upgrade your character’s abilities and your drone in order to make your life easier. Special items can be found every now and again as well, such as jetpacks or flamethrowers, all of which provide you with a boosted chance of beating the level. On top of that, the graphics are gorgeous, courtesy of the Unreal Engine 4.

All things considered, there are few things one could dislike about Eliosi's Hunt, and one of them is the targeting system. However, everything else appears to be in order, even if the action gets a tad repetitive sometimes.
