Destroy ancient Egyptian architecture in this 3D Arkanoid-like game, with plenty of levels and exciting power-ups #Arkanoid clone #3D Arkanoid #Ancient Egypt #Egypt #Ball #Pharaoh
Arkanoid was quite the popular arcade game back in the day, even if the core idea was rather simple and easy to reproduce. However, that didn’t stop it from being extremely addictive, which is why a lot of other people tried to reuse the idea in a variety of other ways. In fact, it still hasn’t stopped, since you can still find new releases that are somewhat based on the original Arkanoid game.
Egyptian Ball is an Arkanoid clone that features one thing the original did not have: a third dimension. The result is not as amazing as you might believe, but you can still lose yourself for a few hours inside the game, especially since almost everything is the same, except of course for the ancient Egyptian structures you have to destroy, which are placeholders for the colorful bricks.
Your main purpose throughout the levels is to destroy every bit of the buildings lying ahead of you, using what seems to be an indestructible ball and some sort of launching platform. The rules are simple, since you only have to clear everything solid off the map, without dropping the ball. You have multiple ‘lives’ though, which means that you can afford to make a few mistakes along the way.
From time to time, a variety of different power-ups randomly spawn from the destroyed pieces, most of which can help you finish the job a lot faster. Thus, you can multiply the ball into three separate balls and bring down the building a lot faster, or even transform the platform into an crossbow and use the arrows to manually destroy a few pieces.
Visually, the 3D engine is not very good-looking, but it certainly gets the point across and you can marvel at some pretty impressive architecture along the way. The physics are not simulated in real time, but they look well and they can create a nice illusion which can fool the eye on most occasions, at least if you are not familiar with how real physics work.
All things considered, Egyptian Ball can keep you company for quite some time, even if the difficulty level is not that high and you might end up finishing it rather quickly. On the other hand, you can always try to beat high scores and get better times, which is much more difficult to achieve.
