Edge of Reality: Lethal Predictions is a hidden object adventure game that challenges you to catch a nefarious killer and solve a few other mysteries along the way. There are no new ideas at work in the gameplay department, given the fact that it’s the same formulas in most HOPAs out there, but the overall experience is a lot of fun and quite engaging all the way through.

It all starts with a string of strange murders that do not seem to have an obvious culprit, although the main character is actively investigating them. However, things change when the main character’s father becomes one of the victims, so the whole story becomes a lot darker and more intriguing. Supernatural things enter the equation as well, so it’s quite the ride from start to finish.

As it’s always the case with puzzle games of this nature, the mysteries you have to solve are never very tough. The mechanics are simple and to the point as well, which means that your job is to examine each new environment for useful items and store them in your inventory until they come in handy to solve a puzzle. Most riddles are about finding the right pattern, on the other hand, but every now and again a few other mini-games are introduced.

Lastly, the great graphics are worth a mention as well, although you shouldn’t expect anything too fancy when it comes to the actual technology. It’s all about the hand-drawn background and the detailed objects that are part of them, since you really feel like you are part of a different world for a few hours. Even the sound effects and the voice acting are decent, even if they are not always very convincing.

Even if Edge of Reality: Lethal Predictions is hardly original in regards to gameplay mechanics or anything of the sort, the adventure is immersive and enjoyable, which is all that matters in the genre.
