Dungeons Of Kragmor Demo
Explore dungeons, kill monsters and craft powerful items in this first-person role-playing game #Dungeon crawler #First-person roguelike #Role-playing game #Dungeon #Crawler #Role-play
The formula for a dungeon crawler may appear to be fairly simple at a glance, given the fact that all you do is explore room after room filled with monsters, but it’s actually more complicated than that. While people certainly enjoy killing stuff and collecting loot, the repetition can be too much sometimes, unless the combat system is rewarding and you get to feel more powerful as you advance.
A first-person dungeon crawler
Dungeons Of Kragmor is a first-person RPG with dungeon crawler and roguelike elements, plus a multiplayer component added on top. The mixture is certainly interesting, but the game is still in Early Access as of right now, so not everything is as exciting as it seems. There are problems, but the game could certainly overcome them and provide the players with a one-of-a-kind experience in the future.
To begin with, the first-person perspective is definitely the main attraction, because it’s unusual for the genre. You play as a mage with a staff that can shoot spells at enemies, so it can be difficult to adjust to the pace and the mechanics at first. Death is imminent at all times, and unlike in classic roguelikes, there is no permadeath. You do, however, lose an item from your inventory every time you die, so it’s pretty serious even so.
One thing that’s certainly lacking at this point is some sort of guide to get you started. You basically have no idea what to do the first couple of minutes, or at least until you press some buttons and stumble into the quests window. Most quests require you to kill a certain number of monsters, but it is also possible to enter dungeons, battle other players and even capture your own tower to store things in it and craft powerful weapons.
The multiplayer component comes into play at this point, because the said towers can be captured by enemy players from you. Naturally, you can install some defensive mechanisms to prevent that, but the interface is yet again a major letdown in this regard. Thankfully, at least the graphics are pretty nice, although you still have to make peace with the occasional glitch or frame drop.
Even if Dungeons Of Kragmor is still in its infancy at the moment and it’s not really everyone’s cup of tea, things are bound to get better in the future. Once maybe more classes are added and the mechanics are refined a bit, this could certainly turn into a fan favorite.
