Dungeon Manager ZV is a simulator like nothing else out there, but then again it only caters to a small niche of people. However, the experience is much more fun that you could imagine, at least if you enjoy playing with numbers.

To begin with, your role as a dungeon manager is to both kill and please the adventurers at the same time. You can create multiple levels, each with multiple rooms and monsters, but you need to be careful how difficult you make it. If the dungeon is too easy, heroes can just come in and leave with the loot, leaving you nothing to lure them back with. On the other hand, making the dungeon too scary can leave you without visitors, which is just as bad, because they are the main resource.

As the prestige of your dungeon increases, more powerful heroes start to pay you a visit. Later on, they even form organized parties and tackle your challenges as a group, which makes them a lot more difficult to defend against. On the other hand, you may not even want to defend yourself too much, because letting the said heroes leave with the loot every once in awhile brings you even more fame, and thus more adventurers.

The game can be pretty scary at first, even if there are only a handful of buttons to work with. Things are pretty well explained to you, though, so it should be easy to put together the first couple of rooms. After a while, things get more difficult, especially after monster mixing becomes pretty much mandatory. Thankfully, you can pause the action at any time and just think about your next move.

In the end, Dungeon Manager ZV may not be the most attractive game out there, but it’s certainly a one-of-a-kind. Hence, if you are curious how difficult it can be to manage a dungeon and populate it with the right kind of traps and monsters, this is the best solution at the moment.
