Drift Stage Alpha Demo

Add one trippy color palette, a massive urban setup, 80’s inspired cars, a superb soundtrack and drifting (plenty of that) and you get a near perfect recreation of a retro arcade racer. Introducing Drift Stage, a racing game that’s so good it’s almost hypnotic.

The first thing that catches your eyes is its vivid and somewhat unusual choice of colors. It’s not something you get to see in racing games all that often, even in those that share visual similarities. They’re there and they work great.

Car design is the second thing that gets to you. Even though the demo provides just one car, it’s enough to convince you that the rest will look equally great. Basically, the game is designed to emulate the 80’s arcade look while under the hood, it uses a fluid and well tuned engine that delivers very smooth gameplay.

There’s a pretty big chance that you’ll mess up the first five or six turns and this is due to the fact that it takes you a bit to get acquainted to the responsiveness of the controls. After a few laps it becomes very easy to pull off some monster drifts in your 80s racer.

From the first to the last pixel, Drift Stage is totally worth playing. One of the key factors for that is the awesomeness that is the soundtrack. It’s simply perfect for the game, there’s really nothing else you’d want to listen to while power sliding for over 15 seconds straight, anxiously working the controls so you won't crash into the walls.

Even though at this time it’s in very early stages of development, Drift Stage is worth trying out. It’s a really good blend of visual and audio features that come together in a tasteful manner.
