Doctor Kvorak's Obliteration Game is a single-player 3D adventure puzzle that allows users to control multiple characters at once.
A new puzzle game is making its way to the PC and the developers from Freekstorm are finally getting closer to the launch of their title. They say it’s been under development for more than six years, and the studio recently managed to get the title into Steam Greenlight, where it was approved for publishing.
Interestingly enough, it’s also one of the games from the new generation that aims to support virtual reality, in this case, the Oculus Rift. They still don’t have a timeline for the launch, but they do have a pretty big demo available for download and testing. It should be more than enough to make you decide if you like it or not.
With such a fancy title you can be sure that there is a story behind the game, but don’t expect it to win any awards. You play the role of an alien in the a TV show named Doctor Kvorak's Obliteration Game.
Kvorak is either a deity or really powerful alien, because if you fail your planet is destroyed, but if you win, Kvorak will grant your civilization new technologies.
The puzzles are not difficult, at least not at first. You don’t need to use complicated controls and you’re only moving around, jumping, activating switches, and displacing items. Even so, there are a lot of complex situations, and at times you’ll be controlling three characters at once.
The only problem is that the animations are not all that refined, and you will find that it’s difficult to judge jumps or other moves. You’re going to die a lot even if you think you haven't done anything wrong.
The game has a cartoonish look, so the production value is pretty low. It’s not a bad looking game, but we can only hope that Doctor Kvorak's Obliteration Game will get better by the time it launches.
The demo only features the first few levels, but they should be more than enough.
