Digmaan: The Aftermath

Violent aliens are bad enough, but things can get even worse if they happen to cause a massive outbreak on Earth after they leave, which turns people into zombies. Thankfully, one man is fighting to save everyone and find a cure for the blight, although he must put down quite a lot of infected people on his way there, in order to keep himself safe and reach the destination.
Digmaan: The Aftermath is first-person shooter in which you get to be humanity’s savior yet again, although you have to pass through some hoops on your way there. In essence, the game is about as simple and classic as it can get, since there are no new mechanics involved, nor any other types of original ideas to spice up the action, other than a casual puzzle here and there.
Speaking of which, these puzzles are usually spread around the levels in order to keep you thinking at all times, but they fail to be too complicated. Granted, the game is not quite finished yet and there isn’t too much content to talk about as of right now, but judging from what is already there, not a lot of vision was involved in the process.
The zombies themselves are quite slow and they shouldn’t pose a real threat to anyone who’s familiar with the first-person shooter genre. You have to use the sights, however, since there is no crosshair to talk about. The sights come with a big red circle you can use to aim, which is much more simple to use than a crosshair anyway.
As far as the visuals are concerned, the technology is definitely not amazing and you won’t be impressed at the graphics engine, that’s for sure. The textures are pretty low-resolution, the models are pretty clumsy and the environments are crowded and difficult to navigate, due to the annoying repetitive patterns. Thankfully, the animations are not half-bad and the particle effects do a good job at making everything look more lively.
All things considered, Digmaan: The Aftermath has a long way ahead of it if it wants to get recognition and interest gamers for more than five minutes. On the other hand, the project does seem to be in its infancy, which would make it unfair to judge it too harshly.
