Devil's Dare Demo
A truly challenging beat'em up game that perfectly emulates the 90's arcade experience #Beat up monster #Co-op battle #Kill boss #Arcade #Beat'em up #Combo
Maybe you’re sufficiently young to have never had the chance to play a true arcade game the way it’s meant to be played. We won’t supply the big beautiful boxes with apparently indestructible controls but we will do the next best thing, introduce you to Devil's Dare.
Devil's Dare is a near perfect emulation of what 90s arcade games were all about, of course, from the beat’em up side of things. It’s built to look, feel and challenge you like one of these bad boys would have in the golden age of arcade games.
Pixel art is right at home in Devil's Dare. The characters look great, world design is impeccable and everything just fits together. Each character is truly unique and is given every chance to shine in combat using unique skills, special abilities and catchphrases that will make you enjoy every successful monster wipeout.
Devil's Dare is a game that sticks true to arcade legacy to the end. We won’t sugarcoat it, it’s a hard game to play and finish. Even if the controls are very simple and highly responsive, you will have to focus on what you do like never before, after all, what's the point of a game if it doesn't challenge you?
Apart from the graphics, animations (wonderfully smooth animations), great music and overall ambiance, Devil's Dare packs that one feature that will probably make or break the entire experience for you, permanent death. Yes, it’s that (at times) infuriating thing where if you die, you die for good and you have to start all over again. Unless you collect enough coins for a buyback, which is a rather rare occasion.
The latter feature will certainly get to you at some point, more or less, but it’s meant to encourage two things. First off, you will have to really focus on what you’re doing, quickly learn how enemies act and react and find the best opportunities to slice, dice, kick, bash and blow them to smithereens.
Secondly, since the game features multiplayer co-op, it allows you to invite a few friends over and try to take the mobs and bosses together. You’ll rage together, high-five each other when you barely make it to the next level, it’s a great way to spend a weekend.
If you’re into old’school games where the challenge is real, the graphics are retro and gameplay is fun then you should definitely try Devil's Dare. Unless you can’t handle the whole permanent death thing, but even so, give it a chance, you’re ambition might get the better of you.
