Dead Meets Lead: Challenge Demo
Try to survive a different kind of zombie apocalypse, using a sword to deal with the infected people #Dead Meets Lead #Zombie slasher #Top-down shooter #Dead #Zombie #Infect
Zombies can serve as a very good plot machine, given the fact that they are easy to explain and everyone already knows how zombies act and how can they be killed. Just like in movies, video games have started using them a lot in the last few years, although it must be said, some of these games did turn out to be amazing, including Telltale’s The Walking Dead series and the new Dying Light.
Dead Meets Lead is a top-down action game that wants to mask the fact that it takes its inspiration from such sources, given the fact that it blames the infestation on spirits and curses. Granted, the action does take place in the 18th century and the main character is a very religious person, which means that demon possession and curses come naturally for him.
As it happens, the story talks about a ship full of Englishmen that gets caught by a bad storm out on the sea, with the captain being the only survivor. After he drifts ashore, he finds out that the island he ended up on is actually infected by the plague. In order to clean the curse and find its source, he must head into the heart of the island and find the cause for the darkness that has taken over the humans.
In the beginning, you only get to use a sword to slash your way through the zombies. However, as you manage to advance and get further into the island, better weapons become available, including pistols, maces, and various other interesting objects that can be used to calm down the infected. As you manage to kill more zombies in a row, the captain gets more angry, which provides him with an increased bonus on his attack.
Just like every other zombie game, the graphics are a tad bleak and massive amounts of gore decorate your screen on a regular basis. The colors are rather mute and boring, but the action does not give you enough time to admire the view, fortunately. The sound effects are not the best out there, but they work well enough not to be a bother.
In the end, Dead Meets Lead is not very original, nor is it very good when it comes to gameplay, or story. However, you can definitely have a bit of fun with it every once in a while, especially if you happen to have a few minutes to spare and you want a quick bloodbath.
