Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart
Investigate a murder and get to the bottom of the mystery in this thrilling puzzle game #Dark Tales #Edgar Allan Poe #Puzzle game #Edgar #Detective #Mystery
Murders are usually quite difficult to solve, especially because they carry harsh sentences and the prosecution needs to prove without a shadow of a doubt that the accused is guilty. Evidence is not as simple to analyze as it may look on cop dramas, and it usually takes a long time to build a case. However, a skilled detective can always make a huge difference in the end.
Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart is a hidden object game with puzzle elements in which you play the role of a detective trying to solve a difficult case. Most of your time is spent trying to find evidence and examining the environment for any useful objects, but there are many tough puzzles to crack as well. The story is pretty grim as well, since it contains a few gory images.
In short, the plot is centered around the gruesome murder of a young woman. There are many unusual things about the crime, such as the fact that she was found hanging from a tree with a wound straight to her heart. Over the course of the game, many other details come to light, and it is your duty to put the clues together and figure out who is responsible for the deed.
Like in most puzzle games of this nature, finding useful objects is the most important aspect of the gameplay. Each new room or location holds a variety of hidden places that must be explored and analyzed in order to uncover keys, missing components and various other items required to advance further into the story. There are plenty of mini games to take on as well, some of which can really put your mind to work.
In the technical department, everything is more or less as you would expect it to be. The graphics are hand-drawn and quite good-looking, but everything is static and stiff, which is not a very modern approach. There is decent voice acting to make the experience feel more like a movie, as well as a creepy soundtrack playing in the background at all times to help with the atmosphere.
Even if Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart is not as exciting or well-written as other HOGs in the genre, it can still be a pretty good distraction for when you need one. The mature story might appeal to certain people, although the plot is not very intricate.
