DIE METAL

DIE METAL is a really nice prototype for a top-down shooter that implements tower defense gameplay. You’re in control of a small ship that’s left alone in a fairly large place that’s rather full of nasty aliens and you have to do your best to survive while protecting a reactor.

As a fan of all things tower defense, DIE METAL has a pretty good setting and a solid core to work with when it comes to gameplay. The idea behind it, although simple, is what actually makes it kind of appealing.

You get to control a nice looking craft that shoots pink lasers and is able to summon multiple types of defensive towers to aid it in its battle. This way you get the best of both worlds, you won’t get bored by just looking at the towers shoot and you’ll enjoy having the freedom to move around blasting aliens at your own will.

The simplistic approach for the models and world design don’t excite but neither do they send out a negative vibe. An opinion on this matter is definitely on the fence but since the game is in early development, there’s a lot of room for improvement, things do look fairly decent as they are.

DIE METAL’s visual effects are actually really nice and so is the recoil shock that occurs when firing your ship’s weapons. When it comes to difficulty, the game seems to have a natural flow, it won’t hold your hand but neither will it let you relax too much. It’s the way it should be.

DIE METAL won’t be a walk in the park so a few restarts will be in order. The game has enough of a dynamic and tough gameplay to keep you connected a while but it does need a bit more work on presentation. However, it’s definitely worth playing as it is keeping an eye out on its development.
