Creeper World 3: Arc Eternal Demo

The idea of stasis has been introduced quite a few decades ago by science fiction movies and books, although it was present in one way or another throughout history. Hence, almost every religion has myths about preserving the human body for many years, in order to facilitate their resurrection. In the case of sci-fi stories, stasis is used to make long interstellar journeys a lot more economic, resource-wise.

Creeper World 3: Arc Eternal is a strategy game in which you have to build energy networks and various types of towers in order to defeat the alien creep that seems to have taken over the universe. The main goal is to spread faster than the creep and neutralize its territory, but many other tactics are possible as well, depending on whether you enjoy taking the easy route or the fun one.

Story-wise, everything revolves a man who wakes up from stasis on a ship he does not really recognize. An advanced artificial intelligence form integrated into the ship is the one that wakes him from the stasis, only to tell him that it’s been around five billion Earth years since he went to sleep. Now, you must find out what happened in the meantime and try to discover whether humans are extinct or not.

The main gameplay mechanic is the use of generators in order to spread your engine network over entire planets. Generators are needed in order to conduct the energy and power adjacent buildings, especially turrets that can damage the enemy buildings and destroy the creep. In order to win, you have to take over the creep-infested territories and neutralize the main creep generator.

From a technical point of view, the game certainly does not excel, and it looks like it was released a decade or two too late. However, the actual graphics look pretty smooth and they shouldn’t be an eyesore, even if the third dimension is lacking entirely and the general design is quite sloppy in some cases. Thankfully, you at least get the possibility to move around the map freely, as well as zoom in and out a bit.

All things considered, Creeper World 3: Arc Eternal may not be a jewel of the genre, but it is still a pretty fun game to try out. Hence, if you enjoy conquering territory using clever tactics, this may very well provide you with a few hours of entertainment.
