Strategic Command WWII Pacific Theater Demo
Put your combat expertise to work in this wargame centered on the Pacific front during the second World War #Strategic command #World war ii #Pacific theater #Pacific #WWII #Japan
When it comes to wargames, the Strategic Command series is quite well-respected, considering the fact that it managed to gather a decent amount of fans. While it may not be as intricate as the Hearts of Iron franchise, it does provide the players with a solid challenge as well, even if the amount of tactical options available is not huge and the scale of the conflicts is a tad smaller.
Strategic Command WWII Pacific Theater features an entirely different front and it leaves behind the European map for a change, in order to focus on the conflict between the Allies and Japan during the second World War. Much of the gameplay is the same as in the previous episodes, but the new locations can pose new challenges when it comes to terrain, not to mention the fact that many of you might not be that familiar with the layout of the Pacific islands anyway.
There are plenty of available scenarios to choose from, depending on what part of the war you want to focus on. Whether you just want a quick fight and tackle a small campaign somewhere on a small island, or you want to go through the whole war from start to finish, every option is included in the package. The grand campaign starts in 1941 and it ends in 1947, which leaves you with plenty of time to put your tactics into action.
Just like before, the campaigns can be set up to feature historical events when their time comes, which means that you can be there for the attack on Pearl Harbor, or see the atomic bombs drop on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Obviously, you can plan your strategies by taking these into consideration, but they can also be disabled, in case you want full control over history.
The game was improved at a slightly more invisible level too, which includes new A.I. features, better calculation algorithms to improve processing speed and a lot of other such background details that add up to a much smoother experience. The graphics engine is largely the same, on the other hand, but it certainly gets the point across and it is detailed enough to portray different terrain types and a variety of troops.
Overall, Strategic Command WWII Pacific Theater’s most appealing feature happens to be accessibility, since not many other wargames greet newcomers with the same friendly tone. However, it can also get mean if you want it to, since it does feature some advanced gameplay mechanics that allow you to get down and dirty with the war.
