Colin McRae Rally 3 DEMO

By the time it reached its third installment, the Colin McRae Rally series has already captivated the attention of fans from all over the world, thanks to the exceptional realistic approach to the sport, which made it extra difficult for you to complete the levels with the car intact. Now, Colin McRae Rally 3 comes to build on that and offer an increased number of possibilities to dedicated players.

As always, the game features the official world championship rally, along with all of the official stages that are held in the usual participating countries, including the United Kingdom, Sweden and Australia. Due to the different weather, terrain and track difficulty, each location has its advantages and disadvantages, especially when it comes to your ability to complete them in a timely fashion and without totaling the car.

Regarding the realism levels, this new title feels a bit different from the prior releases, especially when it comes to cornering and the impact physics. Moreover, the fact that it was mostly developed with consoles in mind had a great impact on the gameplay as well, making it a bit weird to handle with a keyboard.

Beside taking on the career mode, you also have the possibility to compete in singular rally stages, in case you do not want to go through the entire championship just to enjoy a particular track. The world championship, however, depicts the competition in all of its glory, complete with all of the official stages and the repair sessions in between them, where you can fix your car and adjust its components to fit the road ahead.

Although the graphics have been improved a little, the differences are not that obvious between this title and the one before it. You can, however, admire the new cars and the improved tracks, which now feature a lot more detail and serve to increase player immersion even more.

In the end, Colin McRae Rally 3 does not bring enough improvements to surpass its predecessor, but it is a good game nonetheless. Moreover, the low amount of additions may not justify the upgrade, but they can provide you with a few hours of fun, at least until you get bored of the new cars.
