In essence, the gameplay is no different from any other RTT out there, although there are some unique factors that must be taken into consideration before you jump into the action. First of all, there are four forces that participate in the said operations, namely the Polish, British, German and American. As you may have guessed, each one of these have different types of units and they may be better suited against certain troops, depending on their army composition and experience.

Your troops are at the core of each confrontation, on the other hand, which means that they are by far the most important component of the gameplay. In order to make matters as realistic as possible, the game includes a variety of parameters that need to be taken into consideration before assaulting the enemy lines. Thus, the morale is mighty important, otherwise you risk watching your entire platoon make a run for it, especially if you are not careful and send them into an ambush.

There are multiple game modes as well, depending on how much time you want to commit to the game and how certain you are that you can handle strategy on a larger scale. Hence, although it is possible to play a single scenario and win or lose the battle, you can also go through multiple missions in the “Operation” mode, or even tackle the entire conflict in the “Grand Campaign” mode.

In the end, Close Combat: A Bridge Too Far maintains the tradition of the franchise and it provides the fans with a rich and intricate battlefield experience, aimed to challenge even the most hardcore players out there. However, even newcomers can learn how to play it, although it may take a while to get all the concepts and learn how to put your wildest plans into action.
