Although they may not look like it, chickens are about as devious as they can get, especially in large numbers and with a common goal between them. Thus, the safety of the entire galaxy is in jeopardy yet again, as a large fleet of chickens threatens everyone's well being and wreaks havoc in its path to total annihilation.

Chicken Invaders 4: Ultimate Omelette, as the name clearly states, is the fourth installment of the series and brings forth quite a few new things to toy around with, as well as many new types of enemies and more epic boss fights. Despite this, the same classic mechanics are used when it comes to gameplay, which have remained largely unchanged from the original title.

Thus, while the controls and the handling may have been improved and tweaked, you still have to face off against waves after waves of violent chickens, arranged in rows and columns that slowly get closer and closer to you. The spaceship you control is able to shoot a variety of projectiles and avoid the eggs that are dropped upon you, although you do have to be quick about it, especially in the later stages.

Since the same level design over and over again can get boring after a while, this installment introduces a lot more new environments and gameplay gimmicks to keep you entertained, as well as many more power-ups, which can be used to gain the advantage. These special abilities can be unlocked by picking up the loot from the fallen chickens, as well as by achieving various combos.

As always, a few new boss fights await for you at the end of each chapter, which should provide you with quite the challenge, depending on how experienced you are with the series. However, these battles are still based on the old find-the-weak-spot gimmick and they quickly get repetitive after you do so, since you just need to perform the same action a couple of times until the enemy is down.

In the end, Chicken Invaders 4: Ultimate Omelette is exactly what you would expect to be: the same winning formula of the series, now with new levels, more enemies, better weapons and improved visuals to top it all off.
