Modern Warfare TDS Demo
Enjoy multiplayer action in the style of Call of Duty, except from a top-down perspective and retro graphics #Call of Duty #Top-down Shooter #Multiplayer Shooter #CoD #Shooter #Top-down
Multiplayer shooters always have the potential to gain amazing levels of recognition in the video games industry, because gamers like competition and they certainly love shooting things. Hence, it’s no wonder that some of the most iconic and memorable titles ever were multiplayer shooters, including Return to the Castle Wolfenstein, Quake III Arena and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Modern Warfare TDS is a top-down shooter that aims to emulate Infinity Ward’s creation, but from an entirely different perspective. As such, instead of a classic first-person point of view, you have the luxury of seeing everything at once from an isometric perspective. However, the rest of the gameplay is just as fast-paced as in the original, or even more so.
The problem is that the maps are way too small to be any fun after the first couple of seconds, not to mention the fact that the mechanics are too crude and simplistic to merit too much of your time. In essence, you’ve seen all there is to see after a few minutes, and there’s not a lot of purpose in going further. To make matters worse, there very few maps to play on as well.
Although you can enjoy a classic deathmatch round and just keep shooting until you get bored, you also have the option to try a CTF map, on which the players must capture the enemy flag and get it to their own base. Since the maps are small and unimaginative, the entire thing turns sour after a few rounds. Thankfully, there are a few different weapons to choose from, including a rocket launcher and a rifle.
Since the perspective is locked in the usual spot, there is only so much the graphics engine can do. The levels contain a handful of textures and you can sometimes fail to differentiate between them, which makes for awkward movement on the map. There are scarcely any special effects to talk about, except the explosion sprites that result from grenade launchers.
All things being equal, Modern Warfare TDS is obviously not meant to compete with Activision’s product. However, even taken on its own, the game fails to be fun for extended periods of time, mainly because of the small maps and the sketchy gameplay mechanics.
