Beyond Enemy Lines Demo
Inflitrate enemy bases and sabotage them from within in this first-person stealth game with a modern theme #Tactical shooter #Stealth game #First-person shooter #Stealth #Tactic #Shooter
First-person shooters are certainly not in low supply nowadays, especially when it comes to the multiplayer aspect. In fact, it can be difficult to find something with a singleplayer campaign as well, and even more so if you want a good one for that matter. However, there’s always someone ready to fill this niche too, especially if there are people willing to pay for it.
Beyond Enemy Lines is a fresh breath of air in the industry at the moment, given the fact that it’s a military sim that emphasizes on staying hidden and sneaking around enemies instead of barging in all guns blazing. It also features a unique story that does not involve the Middle-East for once, nor is it based around the second World War. Thus, it should be a satisfying experience for those who enjoy a bit of stealth in their shooters.
As mentioned before, the story is quite unique, or at least it tries to be. The action revolves around a special agent trying to gain back control of an important satellite stolen by Russian separatists. The satellite in question is also equipped with nuclear missiles, which makes it that much more dangerous in the wrong hands. Thus, most of your time is spent gathering information and infiltrating deeper and deeper beyond enemy lines.
Although it’s not 100% realistic, the game features quite a few interesting components that make the experience feel like a simulator. As an example, the bullets follow realistic trajectories and obey the laws of physics, which means that a successful kill from a distance is that much satisfying. You can also use smaller weapons and strike from much closer, depending on how you want to approach each situation.
Even if Beyond Enemy Lines is designed by a rather small team, one can’t help but admire the graphics quality, at least when it comes to the landscapes. Granted, Unreal Engine 4 can do many things on its own as long as you provide the right assets, but even so, it’s quite an experience to explore the open maps. On the other hand, the buildings and the vehicles are quite lazily textured, at least in the demo at hand.
In the end, Beyond Enemy Lines is clearly not the type of shooter that would interest everyone, but it has the necessary elements to reach those who are interested in a more calculated approach to military operations. Hence, if you are aching for some stealth action and you do not care very much about online match-ups, you can support the developers by backing their Kickstarter project and by voting for the game on Steam Greenlight.
