Bejeweled LIVE for Windows 8

Bejeweled is one of the most popular tile matching game on the planet and ever since the game came out back in 2001, it managed to sell more than 75 million compies. With multiple versions released in the past years, the team at PopCap has created one specifically for all Windows 8 users.

Bejeweled is all about swapping and matching colored jewels until you manage to fill the bar below the play field in order to advance to the next level. The game allows you to match three or more gems of the same color in a horizontal or vertical chain.

Matching four or more gems will create special exploding gems that if matched once more will destroy all adjacent jewels giving adding more points to your score. In addition to that, making an L or a T match will create a star gem that will destroy all gem aligned with it in a row or a column.

Bejeweled LIVE comes with three game modes: Classic, Butterflies, and Diamond Mine. Each of these modes pack their own challenges and while the classic mode can be played until there are no more possible moves, let's take a look at the other two to see what they bring new to the table.

In Butterflies mode, a random gem at the bottom of the board will transform into a butterfly gem that will climb one space after each move you perform. The goal here is to save as many butterflies as possible before one of them reaches the Spider Gem at the top of the screen.

The Diamond Mine mode offers a completely new and fun challenge in which you will have to destroy patches of dirt and rocks within a time limit that can be extended with each dirt row you clear. The deeper you manage to dig, the better the rewards.

The Windows 8 version of Bejeweled lives to its expectation and manages to bring the same addicting game experience as any of the previous releases of this popular match three title. With three game modes to play and lots of jewel combinations, veterans and new players will surely love Bejeweled the moment they make their first match.
