Beat Booster for Windows 8

Beat Booster is an action-packed racing game in which you control your jet powered aircraft using a webcam and your body motion.

When I say motion-controlled games the first thought that comes to my mind is Microsoft's Kinect device which allows you to play all sorts of fun games using your body as the controller.

Well, now you can play a game controlled using your body motion without having an Xbox console or a Kinect device for PC thanks to a new body tracking technology that requires just an ordinary webcam.

After calibrating with the webcam you can easily access the in-game menus and player controls using simple hand gestures or body movements.

The game packs three awesome looking characters along with three unique jet powered rides that differ through speed and maneuverability on the track.

Speaking of tracks, the game comes with 12 unique race tracks which span through 6 different locations that will take you from a tropical setting to the top of a smoking volcano.

As mentioned before, players can control their aircraft by tilting their bodies left and right while using their hands to jump and grab energy orbs. If you're wondering what energy orbs are, they can be used to refill your boost meter allowing you to travel at a faster speed than usual.

These energy orbs can only be acquired when riding through charge tunnels which appear randomly every lap. These tunnels will also give you a temporary speed boost that will allow you to catch up with your opponents.

I must say I'm impressed on how well the tracking technology works even when using a simple webcam. The menus are a bit harder to navigate due to hand tracking sensitivity but, during races, the aircraft behaves very well and follows your body movements to the letter.

Beat Booster manages to offer a unique and fun racing experience that brings motion-controlled gaming to another level.
