The game offers both an extensive campaign that will take you through ten of the most famous battles fought in the American Civil War as either in charge of the Union or the Confederate army.

The action takes place from a top-down perspective of the entire battlefield from which you will be able to issue movement and attack orders to any of your troops without having to worry about other complicated mechanics.

Coordination is the key to each battle if you want to come out victorious. For example, having your supply wagons near your artillery might be a life saver when you're overwhelmed by incoming enemy forces and you need a constant supply of ammunition.

All orders on the battlefield will be issued by your commander and carried to any of the units involved by horseback messenger. Speaking of units, you will have under your control the infantry, cavalry, artillery, supply wagons and of course your commander-in-chief.

Commanders can also inspire units morale if they are in his range of action but you'll have to take good care of him because if he dies, your units morale will fall tremendously.

Units can also refuse or delay orders given depending on the type of corps commander in charge. While aggressive commanders can also act without any given order, cautious ones are more likely to refuse or delay orders.
