AquaNimble Demo
Obliterate underwater monsters in this fast-paced shoot 'em up featuring retro graphics and smooth gameplay #Retro shoot 'em up #Vertical shooter #Action game #Shooter #Shoot 'em up #Action
Shoot ‘em ups are not very popular nowadays, especially since they are designed with a certain audience in mind. Hence, they are usually quite tough and disorienting for beginners, especially since everything moves so quickly and kills you in a few seconds. On the other hand, hardcore fans are always looking for a tougher challenge, especially if it involves more explosions and more enemies.
AquaNimble is a pretty serious project currently in the works, which plans to provide everyone with a chance to enjoy the genre while also catering to the demands of the hardcore community. In essence, this translates into a lot of content and multiple difficulty settings, plus the possibility to generate random campaigns with the press of a button. Thus, it should be a dream come true for every shoot ‘em up fan.
As the name gives it away, the action takes place underwater, which means that your enemies have aquatic properties as well. Hence, you’ll have to fight against submarines, snakes, robot sharks and a few other ludicrous contraptions, all of which are designed to make your life as difficult as possible. On the other hand, you have a decent arsenal at your disposal as well.
There are many different vessels to unlock and use over the course of the game, and they all come with special properties that make every playthrough unique. Not only that, but you can also find power-ups and improve your firepower over the course of a single level, not to mention all the other bonuses that drop from the fallen enemies. In short, there’s never a dull moment as long as you keep shooting.
The graphics are not particularly impressive, but they are representative for the genre, especially if you enjoy the retro look. Hence, everything looks more or less like it did three decades ago, which is great news for the nostalgic folks out there. The controls are smooth and responsive as well, so you shouldn’t worry about not being able to cope with the gameplay because of the laggy input.
In the end, AquaNimble is obviously going to appeal to hardcore fans of the genre more than everyone else, but the game does not ignore the rest of the public either. Hence, there’s enough fun packed in it to please almost everyone, provided you have a bit of patience to get used to the pace.
