Always Sometimes Monsters Demo
A role-playing game that's about life and not about killing monsters or doing quests #Role playing game #Game launch #Launch party #Monsters #Demo #Launch party
Always Sometimes Monsters is 2D role-playing game that’s all about choices. It’s not a game about killing monsters or shooting bad guys, which might be somewhat strange for an RPG.
Surprisingly, not all of the role-playing games out there have players hacking away at monsters in an endless search for better loot or plot points. Sometimes, the game is just about the choices that are usually available in RPGs, which can be refreshing. Doesn’t this mean that Always Sometimes Monsters is refreshing and unique? Not all that much.
First of all, the developers from Vagabond Dog made a strange decision that could have gone either way for them. They made a different game for the demo version that’s actually marked as free to play. It’s a completely game, albeit very short, that uses the same ideas and concepts as the full game. It has a different story and other characters, so it’s not so much of a demo, just something that looks and plays as the original game.
There are a couple of reasons developers decided to make demo. Vagabond Dog developers either wanted to make something “meta” or they just couldn’t cut the main game into a demo that would make sense.
Players take on the role of a reporter from the Daily News Times who has been invited to join the launch party for a game made by a studio named Vagabond Dog. It’s supposed to be an “introspective ethical role-playing game” and you’re supposed to write a review after the event.
To make things even more strange, the character can play a small part of the Always Sometimes Monsters. You can converse with the various people that have joined the party and supposedly have come from around the world.
Ultimately, the player needs to write a review of the game and even score it. The choice for that grade also has an effect on the developers as well, theoretically.
Always Sometimes Monsters is built with RPG Maker, so don’t expect to see too many details. Also, it’s a fickle game because it doesn’t seem to start on all Windows systems, so you might get unlucky and not be able to play it.
