Alicia Quatermain: Secrets Of The Lost Treasures is a time management game with puzzle elements, in which you have to move quickly, collect resources and complete various objectives on colorful maps. There are no grand new mechanics at work, unfortunately, but everything is polished to a shine in terms of gameplay, so the fans of the genre should feel right at home from the first few minutes.

The story revolves around a girl by the name of Alicia Quatermain, whose grandfather goes missing while he was traveling the world. Naturally, Alicia decides to go after him and find out what happened, which is how the whole thing starts. Hence, the journey gets pretty wild along the way, especially since many enemies try to stop the girl from achieving her goals and finding her grandfather.

Your most important task is to use workers in order to free the roads and rebuild various structures around every map. These structures sometimes produce resources that help you achieve other objectives, so the whole thing ties in together pretty nicely. However, it can get a tad repetitive after a while, even if the missions are technically different. Hence, running around the map feels the same regardless of what you are after.

The graphics are gorgeous, on the other hand, especially since every map is unique and very detailed, not to mention colorful. Many good things can be said about the cutscene artwork as well, since it really helps with immersion and makes the story feel much more engaging. Lastly, the interface is entirely mouse-dependent, which is good news for veterans of the genre.

When it’s all said and done, Alicia Quatermain: Secrets Of The Lost Treasures does not really innovate anything in terms of gameplay, but it’s fun enough to keep you engaged throughout the story. It’s nice to see such attention to level design in the genre.
