Alice in Wonderland is a story that has been told and retold many times over the decades, which is why almost everyone knows at least one version of it. Video games took advantage of this fact as well, especially casual ones that needed some kind of colorful universe to mesmerize the players with dreamy landscapes. Thankfully, it’s pretty difficult to get repetitive with a world as varied as this one.

Alice's Patchwork 2 is a puzzle game in which your goal is to complete mosaics by placing the missing pieces and recovering the full picture. It’s not a complicated formula, and it’s definitely not an original one, but at least you get to listen to an interesting tale along the way. Not only that, but the puzzles are quite pleasant and relaxing, at least if you manage to keep your calm when things get tough.

The story is more or less the same as in the famous book, although it doesn’t follow the same narrative, and it’s obviously a lot less engaging plot-wise. However, you get to see some of the same landscapes and meet familiar characters along the way, which is great for young children who haven’t had the opportunity to read the story yet.

Each puzzle starts out as an incomprehensible mess that needs to be put together by you, although the task is slightly easier than having an actual jigsaw puzzle. Hence, each piece has a different shape in this case, although it’s still pretty tough to figure out what goes where sometimes. On top of that, the pieces get smaller as you manage to get further into the game, which is the same as an elevated difficulty level.

As for the graphics, there are no mind-bending technological revolutions here, but the artwork is quite pleasant most of the time. The mosaics look very nice, even if the colors are pretty strange sometimes. You can also admire a few beautiful hand-drawn scenes whenever you move onto a new chapter, as well as listen to a nice soundtrack along the way.

Even if it’s a bit too simple for hardcore puzzle fans, Alice's Patchwork 2 should be just right for those looking for a simple distraction or a way to waste a few minutes every now and then. Moreover, it’s also a great way to enjoy the Alice in Wonderland story once more.
