Airfix Dogfighter Demo
Pilot model airplanes throughout the house and take part in mock battles between the Axis and the Allied forces. #Airfix model #Flight simulator #Model airplane #Airfix #Dogfighter #Fighter
Model airplanes are quite the interesting hobby and the results can sometimes be very intriguing, especially when these contraptions are able to fly properly by respecting the aerodynamic principles. On the other hand, they are still a long way from being able to navigate by themselves, since artificial intelligence is not yet advanced enough to solve this problem in an efficient manner.
Airfix Dogfighter is an arcade flight simulator that portrays a slightly more magical world, where model airplanes are able to fly by themselves and engage in thrilling air battles. Moreover, they also happen to represent the two major forces in the second World War, namely the Axis and the Allies, which means that the battles themselves are created in such a way as to emulate historical confrontations between the two sides, only on a much smaller scale.
As far as the plot is concerned, there really isn't one, other than the premise of the conflict itself. However, no explanations are given as to why and how did the model airplanes become self-aware, but it is not really that important anyway, considering the amount of fun you can have with the game. Moreover, in order to simulate different kinds of environments and regions, the battles take you throughout the entire house, including the kitchen, the living room and even the bathroom, depending on which campaign you undertake.
As previously mentioned, the game uses arcade mechanics to make the gameplay possible, which means that you should not expect too much realism from the planes and the way they interact with the environment. Realism has nothing to do with fun in this case, however, since the dogfights take your mind off anything else and you really get caught into the atmosphere, regardless of whether the aerodynamic principles are broken with every occasion.
Because the environments and the scenarios vary wildly over the course of the two available campaigns, the graphics engine needs to keep up with the different landscapes as well, which is fully achieved in this case. The planes are nicely modeled and they contain plenty of detail, while the special effects are convincing enough to really make you believe that you just bombed the bathtub.
Despite the fact that it may not be that easy to classify, Airfix Dogfighter is definitely a title worth playing, regardless of whether you are an aviation fanatic or not. The amount of fun you can have piloting a WWII plane in the bedroom may exceed your expectations, while the campaigns provide you with plenty of challenging and interesting scenarios.
