Age of Mythology the Titans
Create large armies of mythological creatures and march them into battle against equally powerful enemies #Age of Mythology #Battle God #Mythological Battle #Mythology #Zeus #God
Age of Mythology is a real-time strategy game that descends directly from Age of Empires. Gameplay is nearly identical to it, the only difference is that AoM draws its theme inspiration from the Greek, Egyptian and Norse civilizations, more accurately from the mythology that surrounds them.
At its core, Age of Mythology is AoE and that’s not a bad thing. Most people consider Age of Empires as one of the best RTS games of all times and being able to play that under a different light with new units and buildings is a bonus.
Apart from the visual style, Age of Mythology differs from AoE in the campaigns. Instead of having historical figures and events, you get to embark on adventures and journeys of conquest alongside and against gods and legendary creatures. Most of the charm in this game is left to the fact that you can build vast armies from pegasus, centaurs, minotaurs, cyclops, manticore, hydras, fire giants and more.
Age of Mythology is really old in game years. It never really managed to top Age of Empire’s audience but now it might seem like a better alternative if you’re looking for an RTS that takes gameplay seriously.
Pitching legions of beasts and mythical creatures against each other in large-scale battles sounds better than having simple pikemen and archers fighting. In fact, that’s the whole point of Age of Mythology, to offer the same quality and well balanced gameplay but with a bit more charm.
Although, by today’s standards the graphics are barely decent, this RTS is still a good choice for moments when you want to try out something different or relive some of the glory days of gaming. A LAN match of Age of Mythology between four friends sounds good no matter when in time you choose to have it.
To end, Age of Mythology indeed is Age of Empires with different clothes and that makes it a bit more interesting. Gameplay differs a bit but the good part is that what made AoE good will leave Age of Mythology to be a bit better.
