AR-K: Episode 1 Demo
Help Alicia unravel the secrets of a strange utopian society in this funny point-and-click adventure game #Utopian Society #Adventure Game #Point and Click #AR-K #Point-and-click #Adventure
When it comes to telling a good story, point-and-click adventure games have always had the edge in the video games industry. In essence, that is mostly because there’s not a lot of action going on, and people are more open to dialog and cutscenes when the rest of the gameplay is slow-paced as well.
AR-K: Episode 1 is the first part of an episodic saga concerning a journalist and her investigation into a secret society from the future. The game itself is a classic point-and-adventure title, which means that you’ll spend most of your time clicking on things and trying to solve puzzles by combining the items from your inventory.
As mentioned before, the main character is a journalism student, and her name is Alicia Van Volish. She wakes up one morning with no memory of how much she drank or what is the name of the man sleeping next to her. Not only that, but she must also find out the secrets behind an object simply called the Golden Sphere, which apparently holds the answer to all of these questions.
As a whole, the game can be thoroughly enjoyed by any adventure fan out there, especially thanks to the good story and the nice characters that are part of it. However, once you get down to it, you might notice a few inconveniences that can hurt your experience, such as the occasional bug, or the nonsense puzzles. If you manage to turn a blind eye every once in a while, on the other hand, you should be able to have a great time from start to finish.
The graphics are not exactly top-notch, but they are not bad either and you can admire some nice views along the way. The characters are pretty detailed in most regards, but the animations are lackluster and some of the movements may distract you. Thankfully, the music is decent and the voice acting is alright as a whole, even if there are a few inconveniences in this regard as well.
In the end, AR-K: Episode 1 could have done a lot better in retrospect, but the developers improved a lot in the later episodes anyway. Hence, even if you probably won’t create any awesome memories while playing it, the game is certainly fun to go through at least once.
