Zombie Defense

Tower defense games have a evolved a great deal over the years, not to mention the fact that they rarely feature actual towers anymore. Instead, the simple notion of defending a spot from enemies is enough to come up with a variety of gameplay ideas, as well as introduce interesting new mechanics to help players have fun over extended periods of time.

Zombie Defense is a straightforward game in which the goal is to repel wave after wave of zombies using well-trained soldiers placed in strategic spots. You can move these soldiers between fixed spots on the map and arrange them as you wish, not to mention the fact that it’s also possible to upgrade their abilities in order to make them more resilient and powerful.

Each level features multiple rounds of zombies you have to repel, and each wave is stronger than the last one. You are rewarded with money for your success, money that can be used to purchase more soldiers or upgrade the ones you already have. On top of that, you can also spend the money by reinforcing defense points and calling down all sorts of supply crates or airstrikes.

As mentioned before, enemies get stronger after every wave, but there are also multiple breeds that make an appearance every now and again. Some are quite big and powerful, so they usually require multiple soldiers in order to be put down. In some cases it can be enough to use a special ability on them as well, such as throwing a grenade or calling an airstrike.

The graphics are not exactly state-of-the-art, but you have to keep in mind the fact that the game was designed to run on mobile devices as well. This is not usually a problem, but in this case the controls are a bit awkward on a keyboard & mouse combo. You also have the option to use real money to gain an advantage, but then again there’s no multiplayer, so you do not have to worry about balancing.

Even if Zombie Defense is a bit rough around the edges and not very optimized for PC, it’s still a great time waster, not to mention the fact that it’s free. Hence, you can easily spend a few hours with it, especially if you like a challenge.
