Water Me
Keep your plant alive by any means in this sad, but interesting simulation game about loss #Survival game #Plant sim #Casual sim #Plant #Survive #Survival
Taking care of things is pretty difficult when the said things require constant attention and a bit of love, as it is the case with pets or plants. Unlike dogs or cats, on the other hand, plants are a tad easier to tend to, given the fact that they don’t move or climb onto your desk when you are working. On the other hand, it depends on the type of plant, because some are more sensitive than others.
Water Me is a simple game in which your only goal is to take care of a plant while the weather outside gets worse by the day. Obviously, there’s not much to do other than look out the window, water the plant and occasionally talk to it if you think it helps. In fact, the game some kind of lesson about what it means to be alone and hang on to the things that make us feel needed.
You start by giving a name to the plant, which should theoretically make it easier to bond with it. You have one week at your disposal to keep it alive, but since it gets harder and harder to do so, the week is more likely going to be the period in which you learn to let go of things. Granted, the experience is a bit too short to form a real connection with anything, but it’s a work in progress at the moment.
There are a few other actions you can undertake to assure the survival of your plant, such as watering it daily, talking to it, trimming its leaves or playing music, whether for it or for yourself. Once the flood commences, the water becomes contaminated, so you have to decide whether to kill it with your own hands by pouring dirty water, or let it die from lack of water.
Not much can be said about the graphics, given the fact that the view never changes, except for the dark clouds that pop up once the storm begins. It would be nice to move around the house and do other things, but it’s pretty calming to just look out the window as well. The sound effects are nothing to write home about either, but it doesn’t make too much of a difference anyway.
In the end, Water Me is quite the powerful experience, no matter how short and simple it is in terms of gameplay mechanics. Thus, it can really make you think about what it means to be alone when everything goes wrong.
