Although it’s far from a glamorous profession, being a truck driver is a pretty common childhood dream, mainly because the trucks themselves look so cool. Driving for hours on end in harsh conditions is not necessarily fun, on the other hand, especially when you have to keep a schedule and pay attention to all sorts of hazards along the way that prevent you from having a relaxing drive.

Truck Driver Crazy Road 2 is a driving simulator that puts you in the cabin of some old-school European trucks and allows you to tackle a variety of challenging terrains. The main goal is to transport certain goods from one side of the map to the other, as well as to avoid obstacles and make sure you don’t take too many bumps and spill your road, otherwise it’s game over.

There are two game modes to choose from as well, depending on whether you want to carry cargo or just park the truck in difficult conditions. Both of these modes feature a variety of levels, but not all of them are available in the beginning. In fact, you have to earn credits in order to unlock them, which can take a bit too much time. Sometimes you have to replay the previous level a handful of times to get the next one, which is repetitive and annoying.

Bumps in the road are your worst nightmare in the game, given the fact that the whole cargo goes flying if you do not adjust your speed accordingly. Sometimes the physics engine goes a bit too far when it comes to how the suspension reacts to a bump, so don’t expect too much realism in this regard. However, at least the challenge is enough to keep you engaged from start to finish, even if you cannot use real world knowledge.

As far as the graphics are concerned, they are very basic for this day and age, especially in terms of texture resolution and model quality. You can at least take advantage of this and run the game on older systems, but it’s not a very good excuse. The camera is a bit too annoying every now and again, especially the one in the cabin.

In the end, it’s the challenge factor that keeps you giving Truck Driver Crazy Road 2 second chances, which can be enough for some people. Thus, you can get quite a bit of fun out of it if you are patient and not very pretentious.
