Beards have made a strong comeback in the last few years, given the fact that they have been gone a long time. However, the new trends require far more grooming than men were used to, which is why there’s an entire industry out there when it comes to barbers and trimmers. Hence, it’s the perfect time to get into the business if you know your way around a pair of scissors.

Trimmer Tycoon is a casual arcade game in which you play the role of a barber trying to make a living and pay the rent for the shop. In short, the goal is to trim the beards of your customers and pay attention to their requirements in order to get their money and keep the business going. Granted, it may sound pretty simple, but the actual gameplay is a tad more tricky than that.

To begin with, each customer wants something different done with their beard, which requires attention and speed on your behalf. On top of that, the color is important as well, and you have to use the RGB sliders to obtain the approximate shade desired by every individual. Naturally, all of this must be done as quickly as possible in order to get paid and keep operating your business.

There’s more to the game than just trimming beards, on the other hand, especially since you can also use your money to buy things for your shop and attract more customers. You can also hire personnel to handle more work, although they obviously require a paycheck as well. Bigger and better-placed venues become available later on, which helps you avoid repetition.

There’s one flaw with the whole formula, on the other hand, at least if you play it for more than a few minutes. Hence, the fact that you are always one step away from the game over screen is a bit of a bother, because there’s no sense of achievement if you have to start all over again all the time. There are leaderboards, however, which might challenge you to do better during your runs.

Trimmer Tycoon is a pretty fun and engaging game, especially since there are not many like it out there. However, it also feels shallow and short, making it difficult to stay motivated for more than a few minutes at a time.
