They are mostly focused on single player and don’t offer any other kinds of interactions, but some developers figured out that there is money to be made. The idea of microtransactions was imported from the mobile platform, and they are now making their way into the PC world.

There are degrees to microtransactions and the type of games they support. Games can either be paid to win, like Candy Crush Saga, or free to play, like Team Fortress 2. Some titles require players to actually make purchases in order to proceed further, and other games have microtransactions as a complementary measure.

The Panic Room is a described as a free to play game, and that’s true for the most part. If you don’t want to pay that’s just fine, but, you will have to wait. On the other hand, it doesn’t seem to be that good to warrant such an investment.

The players can explore a house, with rooms that can be unlocked gradually, and they have to find items that vary depending on the mission that you receive.

Sometimes those items make sense for a particular mission, but not all the time. Also, the location of the objects is not always logical, so you can expect to find some of the items in bizarre places.

Every time you play a room, unlock another, or use other tools, you’re consuming resources. Some of these resources do replenish over time, but not all of them. This is where the microtransactions come into play.

The Panic Room is a decent hidden object game, if you stand the fact that it’s asking you for money not to wait around.
