Most people lost their ability to fend for themselves in the wild, mainly because they do not have to do that anymore. However, you might find yourself in a tough spot by accident, and it would come in handy to have at least some knowledge of how to survive without technology. Being alone is a huge factor as well, especially over long periods of time.
The NADI Project is a first-person adventure game in which your goal is to solve puzzles and figure out the mystery behind a seemingly hidden island. Right from the start, it must be mentioned that the game has a few issues you’ll have to overcome, such as poor performance and a rather chaotic gameplay, but you also have to remember that this is an indie production, and it’s free of charge as well.
The story puts you in the shoes of a wealthy businessman by the name of Jeremy Parker, who’s on a plane trip to an important meeting. Naturally, something goes terribly wrong and the plane suddenly catches fire, only to crash on a seemingly deserted island. As it turns out, the island is actually full of ruins belonging to a huge electronics company called Cerberus Electronics.
The game doesn’t provide you with too many pointers on how to play and what to do, but that’s usually the charm of adventure games. Granted, the puzzles in The NADI Project are not as complex as you might think, so it shouldn’t take very long to figure things out. On top of that, there’s very little content to begin with, so you should be able to finish the game in an hour or so.
As mentioned before, there are some issues to watch out for, some of which are pretty serious. The lousy performance can be pretty annoying, especially since the game is not exactly a looker either. The lighting is pretty bad as well, which is why everything looks too dark most of the time. There are also some problems with the invisible walls, not to mention the fact that you cannot jump.
In the end, The NADI Project has quite a few flaws, and it is in fact not a great adventure game. However, it has plenty of interesting elements in its story, so the next step for the developers is to learn how to properly design a good game around their ideas.
