The Misadventures of Spiky

Adventure games where you have to manipulate the environment to get past obstacles are great whenever you are looking for something casual enough to not keep you on the edge of your seat, but engaging enough to keep you interested. If you take that premise and sugarcoat it with the idea of being a cutesy little hedgehog looking for a new home, then you have the recipe for a great game. That is precisely the recipe that The Misadventures of Spiky follows, and it will guarantee to keep you rooting for a hedgehog like never before.

The story follows Spiky, an innocent hedgehog minding his own business tucked between some leaves who gets recklessly thrown away by a camper with a rake. Sad and without a home, you search through the forest looking for a new place to call your own. All kinds of obstacles will block your way, and it is your job as the loveable-yet intelligent hedgehog to figure out how to get past them. You can't jump, cause you're a chubby ball of spikes, and all you can do is climb terrain that isn't too steep, and push objects that aren't too heavy.

The forest is beautiful, but no one ever said it is quiet

You will need to hide from danger, cross a heavily trafficked road, and much more, to reach your goal, while also getting revenge on the campers that ruined your home.  The premise pokes fun at itself since it contrasts the way Spiky looks (innocent and huggable), with the natural disaster he (almost) unwillingly causes. The game can be played with both keyboard and gamepad, although the latter would be a much better alternative.

The Misadventures of Spiky has a good mix of cuteness, comedy, adventure and the protagonist is too damn cute to ignore, making this game an excellent way of passing the time.
