The Beast named Eliza
The bittersweet story of a girl who finds herself alone in a forest and tries to figure out why people are acting strange around her. #Adventure game #Casual RPG #Fairy tale #Mystery #Adventure #Fantasy
We often think of fairy tales as harmless stories that we can read to our children, but in their original form, they are usually darker and more meaningful than we give them credit for. Some good lessons can be learned from these tales, as they show, among other things, just how easy it is to bring out the worst in human nature.
The Beast named Eliza is a short game that tells the story of a girl who must find out what has happened to her after waking up alone in the forest. It is a fairy tale through and through, and a very well polished game.
When our hero wakes up in the forest, alone, she cannot remember how she got there. There are a few clues around that can help you out, but biggest mystery is the villagers’ strange reaction to her reappearance.
Eliza is just an innocent girl who never wanted any trouble, but it seems to have found her anyway. The story is very well written, and I could not help but feel sad for the main character as she eventually got her answers.
Created with RPG Maker, The Beast named Eliza features relatively simple gameplay mechanics, and it can be completed in around half an hour. However, it is clear that a lot of care went into designing this game, as nothing feels out of place.
While the graphics are rather basic, they are still some of the best I’ve ever seen from a product of RPG Maker. Everything fits together perfectly, and the art is beautifully drawn.
I found the soundtrack to be perfectly suited for this game, setting the tone for this bittersweet fairy tale right from the get go, and the sound effects are also spot on.
The game’s title, The Beast named Eliza, should already give you a good idea of where the story is going. Even so, I highly recommend that you try it out, as the main character’s eventful journey is worth experiencing firsthand.
As I mentioned before, the gameplay mechanics are pretty simple, but there is a lot of fun to be had exploring the world and learning about Eliza’s fate.
