TOXIKK Free Edition
Frag your friends and your enemies alike in this Quake-like FPS with fast-paced gameplay mechanics and ludicrous weapons #First-person shooter #Multiplayer FPS #Arena FPS #Shooter #Arena #Multiplayer
First-person shooters evolved a lot over the last two decades, especially multiplayer ones. However, it’s rather sad to see that most modern FPS games are almost the same when it comes to gameplay and general mechanics, since everyone is trying to copy Call of Duty or Battlefield. Back in the day, the only rule was for the players to have fun and wield the biggest weapons out there.
TOXIKK is a multiplayer-oriented first-person shooter in which your only goal is to frag everyone else before they frag you, since nothing else really matters. The pace is ludicrous when it comes to movement and input response, so it’s all about learning how to shoot and sprint at the same time, which not an easy task for modern gamers used to the semi-realistic conditions from CoD or Battlefield.
Granted, TOXIKK comes with multiple modes as well, which means that you are not stuck in deathmatch mode forever. Instead, you can try a lot of other variations, although none of them are as revolutionary as you might hope. Whether you have to capture objectives or take care of other mundane things, the real goal is still to kill everyone else first.
There’s even a campaign mode you can enjoy by yourself, although it’s about as simple as the multiplayer. On the other hand, it’s great if you want to learn the basics and improve your skills at the same time. You can also try regular maps with bots instead of real players, which is yet another way to practice your aim and make sure that you know the maps well enough to take advantage of every corner.
Everything else is borrowed from classics like Unreal Tournament and Quake, which means that you find weapons lying on the ground, as well as armors and health boosts. You can even define mutators at the beginning of every match, depending on whether you want something different for a change. As for the graphics, Unreal Engine 4 is powerful enough to render the great maps and the incessant action taking place on them.
In the end, TOXIKK brings nothing new to the scene of multiplayer shooters, but at least it doesn’t feature the current trends when it comes to gameplay. Thus, Quake and Unreal Tournament fans should feel right at home from the first minutes, even if newcomers might have a difficult time getting adjusted to the fast pace.
