Sunday Drivers

Sunday Drivers is a silly little racing game with a cartoonish look and a pinch of Mario Kart to it. It features simple gameplay, a bunch of levels and a good deal of vehicles to race in.

In Sunday Drivers you start off with just one vehicle and try to win first place. If you succeed in doing so, new vehicles are unlocked and after a while you also get new tracks to race on.

The cars have unique and comical looks which combined with the vivid racing environment make Sunday Drivers a charming little game. Unfortunately, charm is almost everything it has. Apart from the fact that you get to use four power-ups that are quite helpful, there’s not much to this game.

In this game it’s vital that you make sure the car stays on the asphalt. In real life if you run off the road and onto gravel, or grass, the car loses traction and handling but in this game things are extreme. If you go off by just a bit, your car will almost come to a standstill and whatever lead you had will vanish in a blink of an eye. The AI cars rarely mess up and never as badly as you.

Something that’s cute about Sunday Drivers is the way cars react when they collide. They do bunny hops. It’s fun to see since all of them do it at the same time.

If you intend to play Sunday Drivers on a computer that’s built after 2005, expect the game to flash like a strobe in the club during gameplay. Since it was created in ‘03 the game is a bit left behind and it can't really handle the new tech.

You can still play it, but if you have a history of strobe effect induced seizures, don’t play it.
