Story Of Arado

Story Of Arado is a little side-scroller action game that places you in the arcade scene from a few years back. In this game you play the role of Arado that has to survive a series of ambushes inside a forest.

Story Of Arado displays retro graphics that were excellent back in the day when arcade games were the way to go so by today’s standards it might not seem very appealing. There’s no backstory to the action and there doesn't seem to be an actual goal rto the game either.

You wake up in a town next to an NPC, have a short chat and then you have to go on your way, which of course, is to right. Once you leave the town you immediately encounter foes which you have to eliminate using your weapon and special skills.

Apart from Arado you also get to play two other characters which have their own set of abilities and fighting style. In combat, though the controls are the same, each character behaves differently due to their attack method, making them more or less challenging to play with.

Nothing immensely significant but it’s enough to take into consideration seeing as how you only have one life and if you die, you start all over again. And no, there are no checkpoints and no autosave feature to enable.

Each character has his or hers standard attack and a set of combos and special abilities that are one key activated or require a specific sequence of buttons. They are not complex and you can finish the game pretty much by pressing two keys the entire time.

From start to finish, Story Of Arado seems to have just a few forest levels to go through with two types of enemies and one final boss which can mess you up quite fast. There’s no real challenge and not much you can do except swing your sword, fists or gun at the enemies.
