Snow Blind
Destroy the aliens and learn more about their technology in this flashy first-person shooter #First-person shooter #Alien shooter #Action game #Shooter #Action #First-person
Aliens are rarely the good guys in video games or movies, given the fact that their role in most stories is to serve as the supreme villain. Just like with zombies or demons, it’s impossible for humans to relate with creatures that are not real, which allows the writers to forge epic tales about people slaughtering thousands or even millions of aliens without worrying about a negative response from the audience.
Snow Blind is a first-person shooter in which the only goal is to shoot as many enemies as possible and make your way to the next objective. There are no impressive gameplay mechanics at work and no revolutionary story to keep you engaged, so this is more of a time waster than a game you might remember for years to come. Even so, this wouldn’t be a problem if the action is worthwhile.
Unfortunately, the at is not the case, because the shooting mechanics are awful, the level design is disorienting, and you never feel like you are making any progress. The mission is to kill all the aliens that stand in your way and try to learn more about their technology while you are at it. There are no cutscenes and no dialog, and the actual missions basically require you just to get near certain objects.
Although there are multiple weapons you can find along the way, most of them feel the same, except of course if you use a shotgun instead of a pistol. The aliens require only a handful of shots to be killed, but the problem is that they can see you from far away and always hit their target. Hence, you are constantly getting shot without being able to understand where from.
Lastly, the graphics are actually quite nice, depending on whether you are used to the finer things or not. There are plenty of post-processing effects added on top, and the few textures that plaster the environments at least come in high-resolution. On the other hand, the level design is very poor, making everything feel like a waste of time.
In the end, Snow Blind is a very basic shooter with nothing to offer unless you are entirely new to computers and video games. Thus, the story is non-existent, the action is repetitive and boring, and the level design is just as annoying.
