Slash Quest
Slash monsters and make your way across a bizarre world in this cute action game with a simple control scheme #Slash enemy #Hack and slash #Action game #Slash #Hack #Quest
Hack and slash games are called that because your main concern in them is to survive the constant waves of enemies that come your way. The story becomes less important when you are constantly killing mindless mobs, but there are advantages. One of them is the fact that you get better weapons and armors to wear, which help you deal with even stronger monsters.
Slash Quest is not exactly a hack and slash flick, but it’s the embodiment of the term if you were to take it literally. In short, you play the role of a little hooded creature that swings a giant sword, slashing everything it comes in contact with. That’s all you need to do, although it’s a bit tougher to achieve in practice, due to various control and gameplay quirks that stand in your way.
The most impressive thing about the game is the fact that you only have to use two buttons to move and attack, which is both interesting and challenging at the same time. As such, you can use one key to swing the sword in one direction and another to change directions. Pressing both keys at once allows you to move, but it’s pretty difficult to so with accuracy, at least not at first.
Your goal is to get from one island to the other by touching the statues with your sword, although this is not explained in any way by the game. Thus, you might find yourself stuck and now knowing what to do. Your sword grows if you manage to cut enemies, but it also shrinks if you hit stones with it. Thankfully, you can make it long again fairly easy, because enemies spawn forever on every island.
Speaking of which, the foes get stronger as well, although it still takes a single hit to put down even the most powerful of them. However, the get more powerful and dangerous attacks, such as the bunnies that can use ranged projectiles to hurt you, or the ones that charge at you very quickly. Still, it shouldn’t take you more than a few minutes to finish the entire game.
Slash Quest has the required elements to be developed into something a lot better and with much more content. It also needs a better tutorial and a better movement system, otherwise frustration might turn a few players away.
