RuneScape was one of the biggest MMORPGs out there, and it’s actually still a pretty popular game nowadays, more than a decade after its release. Hence, millions of players enjoyed it over the years, which is why many of them might benefit from a bit of nostalgia. Because of this, there have been quite a few RuneScape-inspired games lately.
RuneScape: Idle Adventures is a clicker game which aims to remind you of the good old times, although in a very passive way. Hence, the whole goal of the game is for it to run in the background without your input, except for when you need to go in to accept other quests and level up. It’s a pretty strange concept, but it’s not a new one, so it might just work with the right crowd.
Thus, you have the option to choose a hero when you first start playing, but it’s worth mentioning that you can change this hero at any time, because you can only pick the name and whether it’s a girl or a boy. Other than that, everything is about gathering resources and using the said resources to complete quests. Combat enters the equation later on as well, but it’s not as exciting as you might believe.
Probably the most annoying thing about RuneScape: Idle Adventures is the fact that you do not really have a choice when it comes to how you learn the skills in the beginning, and not even later on if you want to complete the quests and receive rewards. Speaking of which, you can equip your hero with all sorts of items, most of which allow him/her to gain special bonuses.
As for the visual appearance, the game is obviously very rudimentary in this regard, at least from a technical point of view. The actual artwork is quite nice, on the other hand, not to mention the fact that it reminds you of the old classic. There’s a bit of music as well, but don’t expect to be surprised or impressed by it in any way, which is pretty disappointing.
In the end, RuneScape: Idle Adventures is obviously not a game that will go down in history, but it can be the perfect thing for every now and again when you need something to occupy your time with. On top of that, it features quite a bit of content, even if most of it goes on without you.
