Ricky's Rad Adventures
Fight to get the dogs out of your home in this jump 'n' run with colorful graphics and simple controls #2d platformer #Arcade platformer #Adventure game #Platformer #Arcade #Adventure
Although it’s not always true, cats and dogs do not generally like each other. Thankfully, they can be taught to get along and even become friends, depending on how much of a risk you are willing to take. Naturally, cartoons and video games have taken full advantage of this rivalry, which is why we have classics like Tom & Jerry and others like that.
Ricky's Rad Adventures is a simple platformer in which you have to jump over obstacles, defeat enemies and generally try to stay alive in order to reach the end of each level. There are no groundbreaking revelations waiting for you here, but it can be a great source of relaxation if you don’t want to play anything too stressful. It can also be a stepping stone for beginners.
The story is not very impressive either, but it can be quite fun if you are not too eager to judge it. Hence, you play the role of a cat trying to get some nasty dogs out of its territory, but it turns out that the dogs are actually robots, and they are controlled by someone or something else. The adventure takes you to a variety of interesting places in your quest to find the one responsible, so it’s quite fun to keep at it.
Most of the gameplay mechanics are very simple to understand and put into practice, but then again there are only so many things you can actually do. Thus, the cat is able to move around and jump, which pretty much sums up the entire game. Only the levels, the traps and the enemies change, and that’s enough to keep the experience fresh for a long time.
As for the graphics, the artwork is smooth and very clean, which is great news if you do not enjoy the ever-more-popular pixel graphics trend that’s floating around lately. Even the animations are nice, although there’s nothing impressive about them. On the other hand, the levels can be a tad repetitive after a point, especially since the texture variety is so low.
In the end, there are clearly a lot better platformers out there than Ricky's Rad Adventures, but this can be the perfect start for someone who’s new to the genre. It’s quite calming and enjoyable, exactly because of the low difficulty level.
