Resource Wars

Resource Wars is an indie strategy game that comes light in size, features, and just about everything else. It’s meant to be a casual experience for those who want a strategy game focused on gathering resources and just that.

In Resource Wars, all you have to do is click on your workers and have them cut down trees and mine the mountains for precious minerals. The difficulty level to Resource Wars comes from the fact that you have to control each worker individually, meaning that for every little task, you have to give the orders.

Workers in Resource Wars don’t have an AI script that tells them to keep chopping down trees until there aren’t anymore left. Each group of trees means a new command and so on. If you’re a fan of micromanaging, this game might pay off because you will have to manage six of these workers at a time.

You have three maps with different degrees of difficulty in Resource Wars, and unfortunately, their content is not randomized. It will be the same every time you play. This gives you the advantage of memorizing where certain rare resources are located and in doing the same thing over and over again, you will always find ways of making work more efficient.

There are two types of roads that you can build to help the workers move faster between storage and workplaces, but the lack of AI means that you will often have to point them to where the road is. They often tend to walk alongside the road instead of on it. However, this is a game that’s highly focused on micromanagement, so maybe that’s a feature and not a design flaw.

Resource Wars is cute in its own way but if you’re someone who plays strategy games on a regular basis, you might find it lacking some vital features. It’s also a bit buggy. Nonetheless, if it is to keep growing, it can certainly become something interesting.
