QuikDate
Jump with both feet into the muddy waters of online dating and see whether your looks and charms can bring you happiness #Dating sim #Online dating #Casual game #Dating #Date #Sim
Online dating is not a new phenomenon, but it has improved drastically over the years. Thanks to apps like Tinder, it only takes a few clicks or screen wipes to find your soulmate, or at least someone willing to spend time with you. On the other hand, this makes it even easier for people to dismiss you at the slightest imperfection in your profile.
QuikDate is not really a game per se, more of a joke directed at the online dating scene. It’s quite clever, on the other hand, at least if you have a sense of humor and are not easily offended by it. In short, the main idea is that you create a dating profile for yourself and let the algorithm find someone who’s right for you, after which you have to chat and see how everything goes.
Unfortunately, every match the algorithm returns finds something wrong with you, which means that you’ll never get a date. Whether it’s your salary, hobby, race, religion or weight, there’s always something not quite right in the eyes of the other person. It’s not that obvious at first, especially since your character’s physique and income are generated automatically, but you’ll soon figure it out.
Since the game is not meant to be won, then it’s quite obvious that its appeal wears out after a few minutes. In fact, it goes stale after you hear every savage remark thrown at you by potential matches, but you can still keep going just to see what happens when you change stuff like religion and sexual orientation. Hence, you might get an hour of gameplay out of it, if you are really curious.
The graphics are simple and to the point, although not ugly. Symbols are used for most buttons and commands, and there are only a handful of actions at your disposal anyway. The characters are a bit repetitive when it comes to appearance, but then again, there are worse offenders out there, such as the famous Oblivion. In this case, it barely makes a difference anyway.
In the end, QuikDate is quite a humorous depiction of the online dating market, and one might say even quite accurate. However, you shouldn’t let it have its way with your emotions either, because it’s obviously not that bad. Probably.
