Pretty Please

People get pretty attached to their bodies throughout their lifetime, so it’s fairly difficult to get used to the idea that they get saggier and uglier as time goes by. Thankfully, modern medicine is pretty advanced in this regard, so wealthy people usually spend a lot of money to make themselves appear younger. It doesn’t always turn out as planned, but it really depends on how talented the doctors are.

Pretty Please is an interactive visual novel in which you play the role of someone who decides to go to a beauty clinic and have a few things done to improve their looks. Besides nose jobs and a few other similar operations, you can also ask for much more interesting things, such as better vision, or even to get taller. You can go to the doctor multiple times and get more operations.

To begin with, the doctor asks you a few questions every time you walk in, although most of them obviously repeat themselves. Besides your name, age and hobbies, you also have to decide which operations you have to get. Each change brings you beauty points, which transfer between playthroughs and unlock new endings and dialogue options along the way.

Your answers affect the way the doctor operates on you, although you do not really have to worry about making the wrong decisions, because there’s no way to lose. The operations transfer from one playthrough to the other, which means that your character gets less and less human the more times he/she visits the doctor. In fact, even the doctor appears to be demonic after a few playthroughs.

Speaking of which, the graphics are not bad, but the environments do not really change, except after a few playthroughs. Even then, it’s more of a color variation, which makes it difficult to stay excited for too long. Thankfully, you can focus on the dialogue instead and ignore the graphics if they get too annoying, and the soundtrack is not too bad either.

All things considered, Pretty Please could have featured more backgrounds and a longer story, but it’s fairly interesting nonetheless. It’s nice to know that your choices affect the other playthroughs.
