Polygonal Pong

The original Pong will always be remembered as one of the most important titles in history, even if it was, in truth, a remarkably simple game. It just goes to show that complex mechanics aren’t necessary to make a game fun.

Polygonal Pong adds just a bit more complexity to the original, but nothing too crazy. It turns the arena into a polygon, and it includes a new game mode that is pretty damn fun.

While it is fully playable, it is clear the game is still in the early stages of development. Nevertheless, you can have a bit of fun trying out the available game modes until more content is added.

There is only a single type of polygon available, a pentagon, and it will take a bit of practice to get used to unpredictable bounces. Sadly, you can’t alter the difficulty if you find the game to be too easy or too challenging.

The first game mode is quite similar to what you are probably used to, the only difference being that it is played in a polygon. The second one involves avoiding the ball as it bounces around, which is more tricky than you might imagine.

While up to four people can play at the same time, they all have to use the same keyboard, which is not ideal. We hope support for controllers and a network multiplayer mode will be added in the future.

Polygonal Pong is exactly what the name suggests, and it is certainly a promising concept. It remains to be seen what the development team plans to do with it, but it could certainly be made into an addictive arcade game.
