Not every mission is a matter of life and death like in most video games, because real life would be pretty scary if our planet were in danger to be destroyed every other week. However, even if the Armageddon is not cooking around the corner, there are some tasks that are more important than others. In fact, you can even get an adventure out of some of them, as long as you are in the proper mood.
Pink Hour is a casual platformer in which your only purpose is to jump over enemies and go from left to right without dying. You can also shoot at them with some kind of magic blast, but it’s a lot simpler and quicker to just run past the enemies most of the time. The rest of the game is just as simple, including the soundtrack and the level design, but that’s only normal, considering the fact that this is but a teaser for another upcoming game.
The story puts you in the shoes of a pink office lady, who must retrieve some important documents for her boss. While the documents in question are not extremely important to the well-being of the galaxy, we all know how bad it is to disappoint the boss. Your task is to make sure that the said papers are returned undamaged, which is much easier said than done.
Each enemy has a certain pattern you can observe and study if you pay enough attention, and it can help you a lot along the way. While some of them just move slowly from side to side, others can fly, and their path is a bit more convoluted. There is even a boss you have to fight with, although it only takes a few seconds to figure out how to avoid his strikes.
Visually, the game is about as basic as possible, which includes the graphics and the level design itself. Each stage is comprised out of a handful of textures, which makes it look a tad too barren. On the other hand, the entire game is maybe 15 minutes long, so you wouldn’t have time to admire anything too complicated anyway. The soundtrack is decent as well, but nothing out of the ordinary either.
As mentioned before, Pink Hour is but a teaser for Kero Blaster, an upcoming platformer with much more content in store. Hence, if you want to get familiar with the universe a little bit beforehand, this is still a pretty fun mini-game to try out.
