Minecrafter
Use blocks to build the desired constructions and dig tunnels all around the map. #Sandbox game #Building game #Exploration game #Sandbox #Build #Explore
It’s no wonder that so many games have copied Minecraft over the years, because Mojang managed to create an almost perfect sandbox experience, and it also got to be one of the best-selling PC games of all time. Hence, many other games tried to expand on the idea or simply put a different spin on it by introducing various new mechanics.
Minecrafter is about as close to Minecraft as it gets when it comes to graphics and gameplay mechanics, except that it features a lot fewer components. In short, the worst part is that the randomly-generated worlds are very repetitive and annoying, making exploration joyless and useless. There are no NPCs, no monsters and apparently no different biomes out there, so it doesn’t matter where you are.
There’s also no survival mode either, so everything revolves around your ability to keep yourself busy by just destroying blocks or building things. This is not exactly a bad idea, but then again Minecraft already features this, plus all the other goodies. There are also too few block varieties to choose from, which limits your creativity.
One of the most annoying fact about Minecrafter is that you can only dig a handful of blocks straight down until you cannot go any lower, which makes mining pointless. The whole concept started from mining, so this is a pretty big annoyance. On the other hand, there are no survival mechanics either, so it’s not much of a loss that you cannot find resources or shield yourself from monsters.
Lastly, the lack of multiple biomes or animals hurts the atmosphere a lot, even if there are some hills to make the environment appear less repetitive. There’s no water either, as it would seem, so the whole game world looks like a vast expanse of hills, trees and grass. The graphics quality is the same as in Minecraft, but that is not really relevant to the experience anyway.
In the end, Minecrafter is nothing more than a poor Minecraft clone with a lot less content and unrefined gameplay mechanics, which makes it difficult to imagine why would anyone prefer it over the original. Thus, a lot more work is needed to make this game worthwhile.
